Retinol

Retinol is one of the most widely used forms of Vitamin A in skincare. Once applied to the skin, it needs to go through two conversion steps to become retinoic acid - the active form that skin cells can use.

Because of these extra steps, retinol can work more slowly and often requires a longer adjustment period.

Retinal (Retinaldehyde)

Retinal is a more advanced form of Vitamin A. It only needs one conversion step to become retinoic acid, meaning it can work more efficiently within the skin.

This makes retinal:
